Emergency Community Water Assistance Grants in Indiana

From USDA: Rural Development (RD)

We are committed to helping improve the economy and quality of life in rural America.

Type of Support

Overview

This grant program is designed to help eligible communities prepare for or recover from emergencies that compromise the availability of safe, reliable drinking water. It covers a range of events including natural disasters like droughts, floods, earthquakes, and human-induced incidents such as disease outbreaks or chemical spills. The program offers two types of support: water transmission line grants of up to $150,000 for repairs and maintenance of water distribution infrastructure, and water source grants up to $1,000,000 for the construction of new water sources or treatment facilities. These grants aim to ensure that households and businesses in rural areas regain access to clean water, mitigate environmental damage, and support the economic development of these communities by making them more attractive for business operations. Applications are accepted on a continuous basis through both online and local RD office submissions.
