We are committed to helping improve the economy and quality of life in rural America.

The program supports eligible communities in preparing for or recovering from emergencies that threaten the availability of safe, reliable drinking water. Types of emergencies covered include drought, flood, earthquake, tornado or hurricane, disease outbreak, chemical spills, and other disasters. A federal disaster declaration is not required for eligibility. The program offers grants for water transmission line repairs or construction up to $150,000 and water source, intake, or treatment facility construction up to $1,000,000. The aim is to prevent damage or restore access to clean, reliable drinking water in eligible rural areas, improve the natural environment, and encourage business operation expansions or relocations.
