We are committed to helping improve the economy and quality of life in rural America.
This grant program is designed for eligible communities to either prepare for or recover from emergencies that compromise the safety and reliability of drinking water. Regardless of whether a federal disaster declaration has been made, various events such as droughts, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, disease outbreaks, and chemical spills qualify as emergencies under this program. The grants can be used for tasks like constructing waterline extensions, repairing breaks or leaks in existing water distribution lines, and building or enhancing water source, intake, or treatment facilities. With funding amounts of up to $150,000 for water transmission line projects and up to $1,000,000 for water source projects, this program aims to ensure households and businesses in eligible rural areas regain access to clean, dependable drinking water, thereby also supporting environmental improvement and economic growth.
