Emergency Community Water Assistance Grants in South Carolina

From USDA: Rural Development (RD)

We are committed to helping improve the economy and quality of life in rural America.

Type of Support

Overview

This program is designed to aid eligible communities in preparing for or recovering from emergencies that compromise the availability of safe, reliable drinking water. It supports a range of causes including drought, flood, earthquakes, tornadoes or hurricanes, disease outbreaks, and chemical spills. The program offers two types of grants: water transmission line grants up to $150,000 and water source grants up to $1,000,000. These funds can be used for projects like constructing waterline extensions, repairing existing water distribution lines, and building water source or treatment facilities. The goal is to prevent damage or restore access to clean water in rural areas and towns, improve the natural environment, and promote economic development by attracting businesses.
