We are committed to helping improve the economy and quality of life in rural America.
The grant program aims to assist eligible communities in preparing for or recovering from emergencies that threaten the availability of safe, reliable drinking water. Such emergencies can include droughts, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes or hurricanes, disease outbreaks, chemical spills, leaks, seepage, or other disasters. A federal disaster declaration is not required for eligibility. The program offers two types of grants: water transmission line grants of up to $150,000 for the construction, repair, or maintenance of water lines, and water source grants of up to $1,000,000 for building water sources, intake, or treatment facilities. This initiative is designed to prevent damage or restore access to clean, reliable drinking water in rural areas and towns post-natural disasters, help improve the natural environment, and encourage economic development by attracting or retaining businesses.
