Type of Support

Overview

This grant program is designed to assist qualified organizations with the implementation of local self-help housing construction projects. It supports the facilitation of very-low- and low-income individuals and families in rural areas to construct their own homes. Participants in these projects contribute a significant amount of labor towards building each other's homes under the guidance and technical supervision of the recipient organization. The grants may be used for providing technical and supervisory assistance to the participant families, aiding other organizations in delivering similar assistance, and supporting activities such as family recruitment and loan application processes. Eligibility for the program requires the project location to be in a rural area, as defined by the USDA Eligibility Site.
