Mutual Self-Help Housing Technical Assistance Grants in Minnesota

From USDA: Rural Development (RD)

We are committed to helping improve the economy and quality of life in rural America.

Type of Support

Overview

This grant program aims to support local self-help housing construction projects for very-low- and low-income individuals and families in rural areas. It provides grants to qualified organizations that oversee such projects. These organizations supervise groups of participants who contribute most of the construction labor on each other’s homes, providing a collective approach to home building. The grant also funds technical and supervisory assistance to these groups, aids other organizations in offering similar assistance, supports recruitment of families, and helps them complete loan applications and participate in the program. Eligible areas for project initiation can be determined through the USDA Eligibility Site.
