Overview

This program is focused on improving public health and environmental protection in eligible rural areas by providing funding for clean and reliable drinking water systems, sanitary sewage disposal, sanitary solid waste disposal, and storm water drainage for households and businesses. The broad goals of the grant program include enhancing the quality of life in rural communities and supporting public health and the environment. Specifically, the program supports projects for the acquisition, construction, or improvement of drinking water sourcing, treatment, storage, and distribution; sewer collection, transmission, treatment, and disposal; solid waste collection, disposal, and closure; and storm water collection, transmission, and disposal. Additionally, it covers related activities such as legal and engineering fees, land acquisition, permits, equipment, and other necessary costs for project completion.
