The mission of the Alabama Power Foundation is to support community development by investing in initiatives across five key areas: Educational Advancement, Civic and Community Development, Arts and Cultural Enrichment, Health and Human Services, and Environmental Stewardship.

Overview

Alabama Power Foundation Grants aim to support a diverse range of objectives within their focus areas of Arts & Culture, Education, Environment, Health & Human Services, and Communities. Their grants support programs that: integrate arts with academic achievement, expose underserved youth to the arts, enhance literacy and educational leadership, attract female and minority students to STEM, encourage high school completion and careers in trades, promote community and urban environmental projects, improve access to health services, and support youth development and community improvement initiatives.

Ineligibility

Groups acting on behalf of individuals
Organizations that discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, national origin, disability or gender
Churches or religious organizations not conducting broadly impactful secular programs
Projects impacting communities outside Alabama Power’s service territory
Fraternal, athletic, and veterans programs without broad public benefit or aiding disadvantaged individuals
Organizations currently receiving multiyear foundation support (must wait a year post-funding)
Primary and secondary private schools
Political organizations, parties, or causes.
