The Arkansas Arts Council advances and empowers the arts by providing services and funding aimed at encouraging and assisting literary, performing, and visual artists in achieving professional excellence. It also offers technical and financial assistance to arts organizations and cultural and educational program providers across the state. This support helps in fostering cultural, educational, and economic opportunities for the benefit of all Arkansans.
The Community Arts Project Grant, previously known as the Collaborative Project Support grant, focuses on providing financial aid for arts activities scheduled between July 1, 2023, and June 30, 2024. It targets community art projects that cater to one or more underserved or distinct community groups, especially those in rural areas lacking access to the arts. The grant aims to fund art-related expenses for projects that either initiate an open community arts project/event or expand an existing one to reach underserved communities. It supports various types of arts-focused community and audience-based programs, including performing arts events, visual art exhibitions, and multi-disciplinary events like literary or film festivals, musical performances, and art exhibitions.
