The Brain & Behavior Research Foundation is committed to alleviating the suffering caused by mental illness by awarding grants that will lead to advances and breakthroughs in scientific research.
The Brain & Behavior Research Foundation funds new and innovative research in neuroscience and psychiatry to better understand and treat brain and behavior disorders. Supported disorders include addiction, ADHD, anxiety, autism, bipolar disorder, BPD, depression, eating disorders, OCD, PTSD, and schizophrenia. Their grants have supported early research in optogenetics, deep brain stimulation, transcranial magnetic stimulation, and rapid-acting antidepressants. Additionally, the Foundation awards the Patricia Goldman-Rakic Prize for Outstanding Achievement in Cognitive Neuroscience, a $40,000 award in memory of Patricia Goldman-Rakic, Ph.D., to honor significant discoveries about the brain’s frontal lobe.
