Wetlands and Mountain Meadows Restoration – Nature Based Solutions

From California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW)

The mission of CDFW is to manage California’s diverse fish, wildlife, and plant resources, and the habitats upon which they depend, for their ecological values and for their use and enjoyment by the public.

Type of Support

Overview

CDFW funds various restoration grants aiming to preserve, protect, and restore fish and wildlife habitats in California. Grants support projects that protect or enhance biodiversity, promote climate change resiliency and connectivity, support the State Wildlife Action Plan priority habitats, conserve or enhance working landscapes and water-related projects, and enhance public access. A specific funding initiative includes the allocation of up to $54 million for projects that restore or enhance wetlands and watershed ecosystems, in line with the Natural and Working Lands Climate Smart Strategy and Pathways to 30x30. Additionally, it supports the CDFW's beaver restoration objectives, including providing non-lethal alternatives for landowners to manage property damage caused by beavers, promoting coexistence with wildlife.
