The Wildlife Conservation Board protects, restores and enhances California’s spectacular natural resources for wildlife and for the public’s use and enjoyment in partnership with conservation groups, government agencies and the people of California.
The Forest Conservation Program focuses on supporting planning, acquisition, and restoration projects throughout California’s forests, aligning with strategic goals to maintain their ecological integrity and economic stability. It funds a variety of project types including meadow restoration, forest thinning for hazardous fuel reduction, post-fire restoration, and aspen stand enhancement. These efforts are aimed at improving water supply and quality, enhancing forest health, mitigating wildfire impacts, and protecting or restoring riparian or aquatic ecosystems.
