The Wildlife Conservation Board protects, restores and enhances California’s spectacular natural resources for wildlife and for the public’s use and enjoyment in partnership with conservation groups, government agencies and the people of California.
The Climate Adaptation and Resiliency Program, established by AB109 amending the Budget Act of 2017, offers local assistance through the Wildlife Conservation Board for conservation projects aimed at resilience to projected climate impacts. The program prioritizes projects aligned with the State’s climate adaptation strategy (Safeguarding California Plan), contributes to carbon sequestration goals of AB 32, and supports the WCB’s Strategic Plan. Projects should also be consistent with the California Water Action Plan and California State Wildlife Action Plan 2015 Update. The funding supports efforts to protect and restore ecosystems on natural and working lands for wildlife climate adaptation and resilience, assist land managers in implementing adaptive and resilient practices, and increase carbon sequestration while providing social, economic, and environmental co-benefits.
