Our mission is to protect the natural and cultural resources of the Coachella Valley: the scenic, wildlife, cultural, geologic, and recreational resources that make this such a splendid place for people and all the other life forms with which we share this special place.
The grant program focuses on expanding recreational and educational use of conservation lands and enhancing sustainability in the Coachella Valley. It prioritizes projects that enhance park facilities or recreational improvements, expand public access to conservation land, or reduce environmental impacts contributing to climate change. Special consideration is given to projects serving economically disadvantaged communities (SDAC) with median incomes below 60% of the statewide median, with additional points for projects serving communities with incomes above 60% but less than 80% of the statewide median, or areas underserved by outdoor recreational amenities. The program, part of the Conservancy CMVC's Prop 68 Grant Program, has approximately $4 million available for local assistance grants with a minimum grant amount of $2,500. Continuous application acceptance and planning for at least one request for proposals (RFP) each fiscal year as long as funding is available are key operational aspects.
