Overview

CDFW's grant program aims to provide funding for various restoration projects throughout California, particularly focusing on those that offer benefits like protecting or enhancing biodiversity, climate change resiliency, supporting State Wildlife Action Plan priority habitats, conserving working landscapes, enhancing water-related projects, and enhancing public access. The Restoration Grant Programs include specific funding for projects that protect and restore salmon, especially in response to drought and climate change, with a significant focus on restoration, protection, or enhancement of riparian and aquatic habitats, flood plain reconnection, or improvements to ecological functions. Special attention is given to the Klamath River Watershed projects with support from Tribes and local stakeholders, dedicating up to $20 million for projects within the Scott River and Shasta River tributaries. This initiative is part of a broader effort, supported by the California Legislature with up to $100 million authorized to combat current drought conditions and enhance salmon resiliency.
