The Wildlife Conservation Board protects, restores and enhances California’s spectacular natural resources for wildlife and for the public’s use and enjoyment in partnership with conservation groups, government agencies and the people of California.
The Lower American River Conservancy Program, established by Assembly Bill 1716 and effective January 1, 2017, aims to work cooperatively with local agencies, especially the County of Sacramento, and nonprofit organizations. Its goals are to fund projects and provide grants that restore, enhance, interpret, protect, and improve public access to the natural, recreational, educational, and cultural resources of the American River Parkway. This program continues the state’s role in funding the protection and restoration of the Lower American River's natural resources while supporting the County of Sacramento's management of the American River Parkway.
