The Wildlife Conservation Board protects, restores and enhances California’s spectacular natural resources for wildlife and for the public’s use and enjoyment in partnership with conservation groups, government agencies and the people of California.
The Inland Wetlands Conservation Program (IWCP) supports the CVJV's mission by providing assistance within most of the watershed of the Central Valley. This assistance is specifically targeted at the Central Valley floor, extending from Red Bluff to Bakersfield. The broad goals of the IWCP include the acquisition of lands or waters for wetlands or wildlife-friendly agriculture, acquisition of conservation easements, restoration of public or private lands, and the enhancement of existing degraded habitats. These efforts are concentrated within five primary focus areas: Sacramento, Yolo-Delta, Suisun, San Joaquin, and Tulare, as outlined in the Implementation Plan developed by the CVJV.
