The Wildlife Conservation Board protects, restores and enhances California’s spectacular natural resources for wildlife and for the public’s use and enjoyment in partnership with conservation groups, government agencies and the people of California.
The grant program managed by the Wildlife Conservation Board (WCB) in collaboration with the San Joaquin River Conservancy (SJRC) focuses on the development and preservation of the San Joaquin River Parkway. This initiative is dedicated to protecting the river's biodiversity, cultural, and natural resources, while also providing recreational and educational opportunities. The program supports land acquisition and improvement projects that align with the goals of the San Joaquin River Parkway. These projects involve a comprehensive approval process by both the SJRC Board and WCB, ensuring that they are viable and consistent with the objectives outlined in the SJRC Parkway Master Plan Update. The involvement of WCB extends to project review, approval, grant execution and management, and real estate transactions, demonstrating a commitment to fostering accessible and sustainable wildlife and natural resource conservation efforts.
