The Center for North American Herpetology (CNAH) aims to advance the study and conservation of North American herpetofauna, which includes amphibians, chelonians, and reptiles, through educational, scientific, and scholarly activities.
The Slowinski Award is established to honor the scientific contributions of Joseph B. Slowinski, particularly in the field of herpetology, focusing on the evolution of amphibians, chelonians, and reptiles, notably venomous snakes. Funded through contributions from Deutsche Bank and individual donors, this award is presented annually to an individual scholar, assuming a qualified recipient is identified, for the most significant published contribution to snake systematics globally. The recipient is chosen by a panel of herpetologists selected by the CNAH Board of Directors.
