Overview

The Community Foundation supports grants across a broad spectrum of categories including Animals, Arts & Culture, Community Capacity, Education, Environment, Opportunity & Empowerment, and Health & Wellness. These grants are designed to encourage a healthy, vibrant, and inclusive community by promoting biodiverse ecosystems, appreciation for arts and culture, nonprofit sustainability, educational growth for all ages, environmental stewardship, social empowerment, and comprehensive health and wellness initiatives. The foundation is particularly interested in programs that address the ethical treatment of animals, habitat conservation, community arts education, strategic nonprofit support, early childhood development, outdoor and wildlife conservation, basic human needs, empowerment opportunities, and community-based health initiatives.

  • Possession of a determination letter from the IRS declaring the organization a public charity, exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3)
  • Minimum two-years operating history after the date of receipt of its 501(c)(3) classification
  • Must be in compliance with or exempt from registration requirements of Chapter 496, Florida Statutes, the Solicitation of Contributions Act

Capital campaigns or fundraising events
Event sponsorships and advertising
Religious activities of faith-based organizations
Clubs, sports teams, cemeteries, or services limited to select membership
Political activities
Services outside of Brevard County
Public agencies for mandated services
Research efforts
Scholarships or individual grants or awards
Nonprofits not benefiting Brevard County directly
Nonprofits operating for less than 2 years
Private non-operating foundations
Re-granting organizations.
