The Community Foundation of St. Joseph County aims to promote organizations that benefit the local residents, assist agencies in responding to community needs, reward not-for-profit excellence, maintain a proactive and responsive grants focus, encourage innovative and collaborative efforts for improving local health and well-being, and enhance cooperation among area institutions.
The Special Project Grant by the Community Foundation focuses on community development, health and human services, parks, recreation and environment, youth and education, and explicitly encourages projects within these areas. While the majority of arts and culture proposals are directed towards the ArtsEverywhere Grants process, arts projects that are primarily health and human service-oriented but use arts as a tool are eligible under this grant. Capital campaigns are considered for funding; interested applicants are encouraged to discuss their projects with Foundation staff prior to submission.
