Our mission is to find better treatments and a cure for Fanconi anemia and to provide education and support services to affected families worldwide. The Fanconi Anemia Research Fund (FARF) is the world leader in advancing research for better treatments and a cure for Fanconi anemia, having supported over 260 grants to more than 202 investigators worldwide with $33 million in research projects since its founding in 1989 by parents Lynn and David Frohnmayer.
The Fanconi Anemia Research Fund Grant aims to fund interdisciplinary and translational research that advances the discovery and development of therapies or strategies treating, controlling, or curing Fanconi anemia (FA). It prioritizes research that defines the pathogenesis of cancers affecting FA individuals, understands how FA gene alterations lead to clinical manifestations, determines the causes of bone marrow failure and leukemia in FA patients, identifies management strategies for a high quality of life, and supports the creation of shared resources for the FA research community. Research Grant Awards (RGA) range from $25,000 to $250,000 for one- to two-year projects focused on pre-clinical or clinical research. FARF encourages innovative project ideas, especially those that might not typically receive funding from NIH or other federal agencies.
