The Hyde Family Foundation, initiated by Joseph Hyde Sr. with a $1 million investment in 1961, aims to foster a thriving and unified Memphis. With assets exceeding $175 million and an annual grant disbursement of about $20 million, it supports nonprofit organizations that contribute to building a vibrant community for all Memphians.
The grant program of the Hyde Family Foundation is designed to empower impactful community programs and leaders who can bring about transformative changes in Memphis. It concentrates on initiatives within four key impact areas: High-Quality Education, Vibrant Spaces and Communities, Thriving Arts and Culture, and Engaged Leadership and Civic Pride. These areas are supported through funding initiatives that enhance education at all levels, strengthen Memphis' urban core and public spaces, support the arts and cultural identity, and build effective community leadership.
