The Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation aims to prepare future health professionals to meet the diverse and complex needs of the 21st-century population. Focused on enhancing learning environments, the foundation emphasizes prevention, social determinants of health, and compassionate care, grounded in the scientific basis of disease and contemporary medical discoveries.
The grant program by the Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation supports projects that innovate clinical learning environments in three priority areas: Promoting Diversity, Equity, and Belonging; Increasing Collaboration Among Future Health Professionals; and Preparing Future Health Professionals to Navigate Ethical Dilemmas. These areas aim to address systemic inequities, foster a collaborative team approach among different health care providers, and prepare health professionals for ethical dilemmas they may face. The President’s Grants, which align with these priority areas, are awarded for projects lasting one year or less with a maximum amount of $25,000, including indirect costs at no more than 10%. Applications for these grants can be submitted at any time.
