The Foundation is committed to supporting conservation-focused non-profit organizations working to preserve and protect the environments and living organisms of the Salish Sea region. Through their competitive grant program, they aim to enhance the health of this region, encompassing areas in both the Canadian province of British Columbia and the U.S. state of Washington. Their mission is guided by their by-laws, articles of incorporation, status as an IRS-designated 501(c)(3) organization, and the wishes of their founding member, Paul Wiseman.
The Keta Legacy Foundation offers the Paul Wiseman Conservation Education Grant to support substantial projects and activities aimed at conservation and environmental education within the Salish Sea region. The foundation is looking to fund two types of initiatives with a budget of up to $15,000 each. One grant will support a significant environmental education project with well-defined goals and anticipated outcomes. The other will fund a restoration project that also prioritizes educational research elements. These grants are designed to have a high impact or visibility and may extend over multiple years, aligning with the foundation’s by-laws, its status as a 501(c)(3) organization, and the vision of Paul Wiseman, a founding member of the Keta Legacy Foundation.
