Since 2018, the Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation has been committed to addressing the paradox within the U.S. food system, where 38% of all food goes unsold or uneaten, yet 34 million Americans face hunger. By fostering innovation, collaboration, and community engagement, the foundation aims to create communities free from hunger and waste.
The Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation grant program supports nonprofit organizations, social entrepreneurs, and innovative thinkers focused on enhancing food security, eliminating food waste, and more. The foundation aims to care for communities by providing one meal at a time and operates under three guiding pillars: enabling collective action, catalyzing innovation, and creating a more equitable food system. Specific areas supported include improving transportation for food banks, operating mobile pantry programs, increasing SNAP benefits access, providing school breakfast programs, assisting homeless individuals in gaining stability and housing, and improving nutrition education and access to healthier foods. Types of support offered include cash donations, sponsorships, gift cards, and product donations.
