The Community Foundation aims to provide agile and immediate support to address urgent community needs. This includes supporting organizations that assist with emergency shelter, food, legal, and medical assistance, as well as focusing on both immediate and longer-term needs of impacted individuals. The foundation values maintaining a resource that can swiftly adapt to changing circumstances, demonstrating a commitment to the community's well-being through collaborative efforts and resource mobilization.
The Vineyard Fund for Board Development and Education focuses on strengthening non-profit and municipal organizations by supporting projects related to board development and education. The grant encourages applications for initiatives such as hiring consultants for board development, funding board retreats with ongoing follow-up, strategic planning, and improving fundraising effectiveness. It does not cover expenses for food and beverages, rental space, or board member travel. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and successful applicants must demonstrate board support for the proposed project through a Board Resolution. This grant program was established by a collaboration between the Martha’s Vineyard Community Foundation and the Martha’s Vineyard Nonprofit Collaborative in 2016.
