The North Georgia United Methodist Housing & Homeless Council, an agency of the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church, aims to support churches and non-profit organizations in their ministry to individuals experiencing poverty and homelessness.
The Housing and Homeless Council offers funding primarily through two types of grants: operational and capital grants. Operational Grants, up to $2,500, support ongoing service programs for the homeless or very low-income individuals, available in the FALL 2024 cycle. Capital Grants, with a maximum of $10,000, fund construction, renovation, and necessary fixtures or appliances for housing or permanent facilities catering to the same demographic, available in the SPRING 2024 cycle. Specific Capital Grant categories include Habitat Grants for Habitat for Humanity houses, limited to $5,000, and Emergency Grants up to $1,000 for unforeseen capital expenses or operating cost shortfalls, excluding certain blackout dates. Applicants are reminded to request no more than the maximum allowable under their grant category.
