The Savannah Community Foundation aims to benefit donors, donees, and the community by offering a safe, simple, inexpensive, and tax-efficient way for philanthropic capital formation, investment, and distribution to public charities. Established in 1956 and reorganized in 1986 as a community foundation, it acts as an umbrella philanthropic organization, supporting the well-being of the community through investment in solutions to civic, educational, health and human services, religious, and cultural challenges. Typically, it grants over $2,000,000 annually to more than 200 charitable organizations.
The Immediate Needs Fund is designed to support emergency needs and other unanticipated expenses for organizations. Grants from this fund generally do not exceed $5,000 per grant, with typical amounts being less than $1,500. Additionally, no organization is intended to receive more than $5,000 in total within any twelve-month period. This grant focuses on providing timely assistance for immediate and critical needs within the community.
