The Georgia Health Foundation was established in 1985 following the conversion of Georgia’s first nonprofit health maintenance organization into an independent, private foundation. Its mission is to aid nonprofits in addressing health issues of local significance and/or opportunities to focus on regional or national health matters, thereby improving the health of Georgians.
The grant program of the Georgia Health Foundation is designed to support a wide range of health-related areas. It aims to improve the health of Georgians by awarding grants to organizations that operate exclusively for charitable, scientific, and/or educational purposes. The Foundation encourages applicants to tackle health issues of local importance as well as to seize opportunities to address regional or national health issues. It promotes collaboration, cooperation, and joint ventures among organizations. Although the Foundation is not intended to be a continuous source of support, it is interested in funding programs that are likely to have a sustainable impact.
