The Lantos Foundation's mission is to uphold and protect human rights and dignity across the globe, inspired by the shared passion and history of Tom and Annette Lantos as Holocaust survivors. Co-founded by Tom Lantos, the Congressional Human Rights Caucus, now succeeded by the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission, exemplifies this commitment. The Foundation embodies Tom Lantos' belief in the importance of guarding civilization’s thin veneer by promoting values of decency, dignity, and freedom, aiming to carry the banner of human rights worldwide.
The Lantos Foundation Front Line Fund Grant Program was established in 2008 to continue the legacy of Congressman Tom Lantos, the only Holocaust survivor elected to the U.S. Congress and a notable human rights advocate. The program provides small grants to support individuals and organizations on the front lines fighting against injustices. Special consideration is given to efforts combating antisemitism at the community level and projects focused on Holocaust and genocide prevention education. The program typically awards grants under $2,500 USD to further its cause in battling injustices globally.
