The Japan Foundation, Los Angeles aims to support Japanese language education, as well as arts and cultural programs. It provides grants, information on scholarships, and other resources to teachers, institutions, and students. The organization also connects with other grants and scholarships, like those from the Center for Global Partnership's Intellectual and Grassroots Exchange programs, to further promote its aims.
The JFLA Mini Grant for Japanese Arts & Culture Program is designed to enhance the understanding of Japanese arts and culture. It offers up to $5,000 to successful candidates for projects within Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. The grant covers expenses such as publicity fees, printing costs for promotional materials, honoraria for artists and lecturers, travel expenses including per diem and accommodation, shipping costs for related materials, and facility fees. Funding is provided in the form of reimbursement, awarded upon successful submission of a final report and proof of payment. Projects must apply at least 3 months prior to their start date.
