The mission of the Employment and Training Administration is to contribute to the more efficient functioning of the U.S. labor market by providing high-quality job training, employment, labor market information, and income maintenance services primarily through state and local workforce development systems.
The Growth Opportunities program aims to support justice-involved youth and young adults by preparing them for the workforce and setting them on a path toward equitable career opportunities. It prioritizes paid work experiences and includes occupational education and training in industries with high demand. Additionally, the program offers leadership development, mentorship, and assistance in securing unsubsidized employment or further education. The grant seeks to fund approximately 28 projects with a total available funding of around $85,000,000 across two funding rounds.
