The National Institutes of Health (NIH), a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is the nation’s medical research agency — making important discoveries that improve health and save lives.
This grant program supports investigator-initiated multi-site clinical trials focusing on the effects of complementary and integrative health approaches that incorporate physical and psychological therapeutic inputs or multicomponent interventions, including physical, psychological, and nutritional approaches, especially in areas deemed high priority by the NCCIH. It particularly seeks to fund Clinical Coordinating Centers (CCC) for conducting Phase III or beyond clinical trials, emphasizing the development of a comprehensive scientific and operational plan, project management, participant recruitment and retention, performance milestones, scientific conduct, and result dissemination. A key requirement is a simultaneous submission of a CCC application and a corresponding Data Coordinating Center (DCC) application, which proposes a data analysis and management plan. This scheme utilizes a two-phase, milestone-driven cooperative agreement funding mechanism.
