Type of Support

Overview

This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) aims to support early phase clinical trials of natural products such as botanicals, probiotics, and products marketed as dietary supplements that have a solid scientific premise for further clinical testing. It specifically targets natural products including nutritional regimens that standardize the amount of specific naturally occurring nutritional compounds with compelling preliminary evidence. The key goal is to design trials that yield scientifically useful results, guiding decisions on the further development or testing of the natural product. The NOFO provides up to three years of support for milestone-driven testing focused on pharmacokinetics, bioavailability, and the assessment of the product's effect on humans. Successful completion of initial milestones may lead to additional support for replicating the impact on target engagements and assessing clinical outcomes correlations, with an emphasis on optimizing the delivery and effectiveness of the natural product.
