    Overview

The Direct Services for Survivors of Torture (DS SOT) Program by ORR is designed to assist survivors of torture and their families in overcoming the significant and enduring effects of torture. The program's core objectives include enhancing survivors' access to and engagement with holistic, strengths-based, and trauma-informed services, as well as fostering a robust, sustainable network of culturally responsive service providers across the nation. The DS SOT Program offers a range of services aimed at supporting the physical, social, emotional, and economic well-being of torture survivors. This includes case management, legal assistance, medical and mental health services, housing, occupational and educational services, all provided in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner. The program places a strong emphasis on seamless service coordination, outreach, engagement, empowerment, and the integration of survivors into their communities, paying particular attention to marginalized sub-groups such as refugees, survivors of gender-based violence, and LGBTQ individuals.
