Type of Support

Overview

The Conservation Innovation Grants (CIG) program aims to stimulate the development and adoption of innovative conservation approaches and technologies on private lands. It provides competitive funding to projects that demonstrate new techniques or practices that can lead to improvements in water quality, air quality, soil health, and wildlife habitat. The program is divided into three main opportunities: National CIG Classic, which focuses on the early-stage development of innovative tools and technologies with national applicability; State CIG Classic, which supports state-specific conservation priorities through early-stage innovation; and CIG On-Farm Conservation Innovation Trials (On-Farm Trials), which seeks to expand the implementation and evaluation of innovative conservation practices directly with agricultural producers, with a special emphasis on improving soil health.
