We deliver conservation solutions so agricultural producers can protect natural resources and feed a growing world.
The Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) aims to support agricultural and forestry producers in enhancing their existing conservation efforts to improve grazing conditions, increase crop resiliency, or develop wildlife habitat. Through technical and financial assistance, CSP seeks to identify and solve natural resource problems on working lands, promoting cleaner water and air, healthier soil, and better wildlife habitat, while improving agricultural operations. The program encourages the adoption of new conservation practices or activities, offering custom-designed plans based on the operation's management objectives. Participants receive annual payments for implementing these practices and for maintaining existing conservation efforts, with the option for higher payment rates through selecting a suite of enhancements known as bundles. CSP underscores the importance of sustainable production and land stewardship, aiming for the long-term sustainability of agricultural and forest lands across the United States. Contracts under CSP are for five years, with a possibility for renewal, emphasizing a commitment to achieve further conservation objectives.
