Overview

The grant program is dedicated to financing the development and improvement of critical infrastructure for clean and reliable drinking water, sanitary sewage disposal, sanitary solid waste disposal, and storm water drainage in rural areas. The broad goals include ensuring public health, protecting the environment, and supporting the sustainable growth of rural communities. Specific causes supported by the grant include:

  • The acquisition, construction, or improvement of facilities for drinking water sourcing, treatment, storage, and distribution.
  • The development of sewer collection, transmission, treatment, and disposal systems.
  • Solid waste collection, disposal, and closure activities.
  • Storm water collection, transmission, and disposal infrastructure.

Funding may also cover related activities such as legal and engineering fees, land acquisition, start-up operations, and other costs deemed necessary for project completion.
