The mission of the Churchill Foundation is to deepen the US-UK partnership in science and technology, advancing prosperity and security on both sides of the Atlantic. This is achieved through the Churchill Scholarships, which support American students to pursue graduate studies in STEM fields at the University of Cambridge, fostering international collaboration and innovation.
The Churchill Scholarships are designed for exceptional American students to pursue one year of Master’s study in science, mathematics, engineering, or science policy at the University of Cambridge. This prestigious program offers 18 scholarships annually, including 16 in STEM fields and two in science policy, covering tuition, travel, visa fees, health surcharge, and a generous stipend. Scholars have the unique opportunity to engage in full-time research, join non-hierarchical lab environments as valued team members, and experience an academic culture that emphasizes work-life balance. Churchill College, the program's base, is the only college at Cambridge focusing solely on STEM subjects, providing a rich environment for scholarly and personal growth. Award recipients also have the chance to apply for a special research grant. Selection criteria emphasize outstanding academic achievement, proven talent in research, and exceptional personal qualities, looking for individuals with significant potential to contribute to their fields.
