Review Criteria

The Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation (WRF) gives precedence to funding applications that meet the following criteria:

  • Demonstrate a clear dedication to addressing disparities across educational, economic, social, ethnic, and racial dimensions.
  • Articulate a concrete plan to challenge the status quo by tackling the foundational causes of inequality and removing systemic barriers and policies that maintain inequity.
  • Favor initiatives that are led by communities, emphasize building movements, advocate for public policy, champion innovation, and aim to disrupt existing systems as mechanisms for transformation.
  • Focus on empowering those most affected by inequality to spearhead the identification of its root causes and the generation of inventive solutions.
  • Adopt a 2Gen (Two-Generation) approach that concurrently and deliberately supports both children and adults, offering whole-family strategies.
  • Develop or enhance partnerships and coalitions, acknowledging that achieving equity is beyond the capacity of any single organization or sector.
  • Are forward-thinking, strategic, and innovative to encourage and facilitate creative approaches to effectuate positive change throughout Arkansas.
  • Possess the ability to track, evaluate, and report on the efficacy of the pursued change, the strategies employed, and the milestones achieved.
