The primary mission of the Allen Whitehill Clowes Charitable Foundation is to support charitable organizations that promote or preserve the Arts and Humanities and those that were supported by Mr. Clowes during his lifetime or are similar to those he supported. This reflects Mr. Clowes' lifelong contributions to various charitable endeavors related to the fine arts, music, literature, education, science, and history, primarily in Central Indiana.
The Foundation focuses on supporting charitable organizations dedicated to promoting or preserving the Arts and Humanities, with a preference for organizations in Central Indiana. The grant program includes Capital & Special Project Grants aimed at one-time, specific undertakings such as renovations, new construction, capacity building, a special exhibit, or a unique program. Grant amounts can range from $1,000 to $1,000,000, with the Board having the discretion to make decisions on a case-by-case basis.
