The mission of the British Cave Research Association (BCRA) is to administer the United Kingdom Cave Conservation Emergency Fund (UKCCEF), focusing on supporting projects that contribute to the conservation of caves, historic mines, and other speleological interests within the United Kingdom.
The grant program focuses on promoting the scientific study and understanding of caves, with a primary emphasis on speleogenesis, archaeology/palaeontology, biology, and technology related to cave environments. The program aims to support worthwhile projects in these and other areas of cave research. A key goal is to enhance awareness within the caving and scientific communities about the importance of caves scientifically, highlighting the interconnection between exploration and scientific discovery. Applications are reviewed three times a year, with potential for expedited review for smaller requests.
