The Foundation is dedicated to addressing the long-term well-being of children, youth, and their communities through support in Education, Human Services, and Health. It aims to provide disadvantaged children, youth, and their families with the necessary tools to build a life of quality, focusing on proven and innovative programs that facilitate systemic change.
The Crail-Johnson Foundation Grant Making program is designed to provide financial support to public non-profit organizations focused on benefiting children, youth, and families, primarily within specific regions of Los Angeles County. The Foundation's grants are intended for program/project support, general operating support, and on occasion, capital projects and selected endowments. It prioritizes services and programs in areas such as San Pedro, Wilmington, Compton, Watts, Carson, Long Beach, and South Los Angeles, and supports proven approaches as well as innovative programs aimed at systemic change. Specifically, the Foundation emphasizes health programs with a focus on direct medical services, education, and human services that help provide the necessary tools for building a quality life for disadvantaged communities. Grants are generally awarded for one year, with organizations eligible to reapply annually, but typically support is not extended beyond three consecutive years.
