The Denver Foundation's mission is to inspire people and mobilize resources to strengthen the Denver community. As a community foundation, they manage a variety of funds and initiatives that aim to address the needs and improve the lives of the residents in the Denver area. The foundation focuses on building a more equitable and vibrant community through grantmaking, philanthropy, and community leadership.
The grant program supports broad goals in transformation and development within communities of color, specifically targeting areas that will help bridge disparities in education, social, and economic welfare. It prioritizes causes such as arts, culture, humanities, education and youth, and health and behavioral health. The program is designed to strengthen primary and secondary education levels, support higher education initiatives through scholarships, and promote health and wellness priorities like a healthy heart, women's wellness, tissue donor awareness, and mental health. Furthermore, it emphasizes the promotion of equal opportunity, equity, diversity, and advancement for the Black community, and supports collaborations with other organizations to match challenge funds in educational, civic, or cultural projects. Applicants are encouraged to align their organization’s primary service area with the foundation's priorities or specify if it falls under "other" categories, ensuring a fit with the foundation's goals and guidelines.
Preference will be extended to entities dedicated to assisting the Black community within Colorado.
