The Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation aims to enhance the quality of life in the Duluth Superior region through the establishment and administration of endowed funds created by individuals, families, private foundations, and businesses. Since 1983, it has distributed over $40 million in grants and scholarships, managing more than 360 funds for various charitable purposes.
The Community Opportunity Fund: Resilience Focus by the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation prioritizes building the resilience of communities and systems to effectively respond to and recover from shocks and stresses, such as severe weather events, epidemics, and chronic issues like housing shortages and inequity. The Foundation seeks to empower organizations and systems that serve historically marginalized groups, enhancing equity in resilience efforts. The grant program supports actions towards climate resilience, behavior change to manage shock and stress impacts, long-term risk management, transformative action in response to climate change, and efforts that boost equity and justice. It centers on values of systems change, community engagement, continuous learning, human centrality, and collaboration for a more resilient and equitable community.
