The mission of the funder is to conserve and restore ecosystems, ensuring plant and wildlife can sustain and thrive; preserve historical landmarks to connect the past with the present and future; support music and visual arts for expression and cultural awareness; protect and conserve plants and wildlife, especially endangered species; and conserve land for future generations to enjoy. They achieve this by funding projects and programs in these specific areas, working with community-based organizations that share their goals.
The Standard Grant program aims to support projects and programs that have a significant impact on communities throughout California. Since its inception in 2006, it has facilitated the construction of music facilities, restoration of historical buildings, preservation and acquisition of open spaces, protection of endangered species, and support for a wide range of other initiatives. The program focuses on several key areas: Ecosystem Conservation, emphasizing habitat enhancement for plants and wildlife; Historical Landmark Restoration, targeting projects that preserve or acquire sites of historical significance; Music & Visual Arts, promoting access to training and resources for artists; Plant & Wildlife Protection, supporting the conservation of endangered and threatened species; and Land Conservation, aimed at protecting land with significant scenic, agricultural, or cultural values.
