The New York Junior League (NYJL) focuses on enriching the lives of individuals and communities through volunteerism and community service. Their mission revolves around leveraging the skills of volunteers to impact the society positively, particularly through projects that renovate and enhance community spaces.
The Community Improvement Project (CIP) by the New York Junior League aims to foster one-year partnerships with New York City organizations for renovating community spaces to bolster the organizations' missions and amplify their influence. Emulating the model of the successful Playground Improvement Project, the CIP provides a combination of skilled volunteers, funding, and in-kind services for capital improvements to eligible spaces. The initiative encourages capital improvement projects that can include up to three interior rooms and one outdoor space, with the overarching goal of enhancing community impact in line with the mission of the benefited organization. Following the one-year term, an assessment is made to determine the necessity for continued volunteer support, though no further funding will be offered beyond the initial grant. Additionally, partners of the Community Improvement Project may receive extra programming support from the NYJL.
