The Marion and Henry Bloch Family Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life for people in greater Kansas City. Through both responsive and strategic philanthropy, it supports a broad range of organizations aiming at helping the city's most vulnerable residents and fostering significant, long-term improvements within local communities.
The grant program focuses on establishing excellence and transformational change within local nonprofits and the community, prioritizing underserved populations. It operates on a model that blends proactive support for strengthening nonprofits with responsive community assistance, aiming to achieve enhanced outcomes. Organizations are encouraged to preliminarily submit their ideas via a questionnaire for potential funding eligibility. After an evaluation period, selected organizations may be invited to submit a full grant application, although this invitation does not guarantee funding approval.
In recognition of the founders' enduring dedication to particular institutions, priority is extended to the following organizations, deemed Legacy Organizations by the Foundation: the Henry W. Bloch School of Management at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, and the Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City (Plaza location).
